Borios arrives in Casablanca.

The “Damlej Group for Cultures and Art” announced that it is preparing to present its new theatrical performance “Borios” on Tuesday, August 13th, at 7:00 PM at the cultural complex on Abdallah Sanhaji Street in Casablanca.

The theater troupe explained that this performance follows their successful run of over 13 theatrical shows and participation in several national festivals. Notably, they took part in the fourth edition of the Amateur Theater Festival in Marrakech last May, where they won the Best Playwright award for Abdelmajid Saadallah. They also participated in the eighth edition of the “Crossing Theater Festival” in Tan-Tan in March 2023, as well as the Theater Nights in the Sidi Bernoussi district in April 2023.

Ayoub Benhabach, the artistic director of the troupe, explained that “Boreus” is a psychological drama that delves into the complexities of the human psyche and reflects the true nature of emotions and feelings through the journey of two characters. It is also a spiritual journey where opposites like light and darkness, truth and fantasy, and good and evil intertwine. The protagonist, Miloudi, aims to reunite with his wife, Ruhab, while his friend and spiritual guide seeks to cure Miloudi of his psychological and delusional disorders. Benhabach noted that the play “Boreus” is experimental both in its writing and in the directorial vision crafted by director Sami Saadallah.

He added that the play is a spiritual journey through Moroccan cultural heritage, incorporating elements such as Gnawa music, Hadra rituals, traditional clothing, and other spiritual aspects. The play also employs body language and expressive movements that stem from the actor’s subconscious, while also invoking the theme of sorcery through the character “Ruhab,” who embodies evil.

He continued by explaining that the play, in its intricately woven philosophical drama, explores the search for truth, or rather, a journey into an unknown world—a quest for an invisible woman. The protagonist, Miloudi, who suffers from psychological and delusional disorders, is on a mission to find his wife, Ruhab, and their daughter. He is aided by his luminous friend, who accompanies him on this search, encountering various challenges and surprises along the way.
