Meeting in Nador Highlights the Diaspora

The “Nador We Want” Association, in partnership with the Nador Municipality, organized a meeting on Saturday evening focused on the theme “The Role of Moroccans Abroad in Local Development.” The event was held in the conference hall of a prominent hotel in Nador.

The meeting, organized as part of the “PRIM” program between the French government, the Regional Council, and the Nador Municipality, saw participation from several members of the Moroccan diaspora residing in various European countries.

The discussion primarily focused on issues related to business, investment, major projects, free professions, and the cultural and community work of the Moroccan diaspora in Europe, and how these activities contribute to local development.

During the meeting, participants shared their stories and experiences with projects in the mentioned fields, highlighting the challenges they faced and discussing the future potential for developing these initiatives. They also explored ways to apply and invest these experiences back in their homeland.

In a statement to Hespress, Mohamed Montasser, Vice President of the Nador Municipality, said, “The meeting aimed to spotlight the achievements and successes of the Moroccan diaspora in various fields as part of an effort to encourage and motivate these talents to continue evolving and thriving.”

The speaker emphasized that the meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss the role of Moroccans abroad in driving local development on various levels, given their strong connection to their homeland. He called for greater attention to be given to the diaspora, urging the need to benefit from their experiences, while also listening to their fundamental issues and concerns.
